Mimic Party multiplayer

Online only, 1 to 5 players by FoliesApp's count (one Steam line says 2 to 5). Everyone needs the same sound pack before a game starts, and voice chat is built in: it stays open between takes and goes quiet while each one plays.

Setting up a game with friends

  1. Agree on a sound pack first and send everyone its Workshop link. The sound pack browser has a copy button on every pack for exactly this.
  2. One player hosts the room. Players in the Steam discussions describe joining a friend's room with a room code.
  3. Wait in the lobby until nobody is listed as still downloading the pack. Then the first sound drops.

A game runs about 10 minutes, 4 rounds. The rules page walks through each phase.

Lobby problems players have reported

These are thread titles and complaints from the Steam discussions, not problems FoliesApp has confirmed:

  • A lobby saying the server is full with only three of five players in it.
  • Not being able to join a friend, or be joined, with a room code, and failing to connect to the servers.
  • The host leaving mid-game.
  • The microphone not being picked up in the lobby even though it works in other apps. The mic checklist covers the Windows side of that.

Finding people to play with

The official Mimic Party Discord is run by FoliesApp, and the Steam discussions have threads where people look for a group.

Is Mimic Party still active?

The latest public milestone is FoliesApp's announcement of 100,000 copies sold on September 9, 2026, when it also said big updates would drop every week. For live player numbers, SteamDB tracks concurrent players.

Is Mimic Party online only?
Yes. FoliesApp describes it as an online game for 1 to 5 players, and the Steam requirements call it online multiplayer only with a permanent broadband connection.
Can I play Mimic Party alone?
The store description and FoliesApp both say 1 to 5 players, but the requirements notes on the same Steam page say 2 to 5. FoliesApp has not said how a one-player game plays.
Does Mimic Party have crossplay?
There is nothing to cross-play with: every player is on Windows PC through Steam.
Why is the game waiting before it starts?
Everyone needs the chosen sound pack installed first. The lobby lists who is still downloading it.
